ROSEVILLE, CA - - Guns Owners of California has endorsed Ted Gaines in the First Senate District special election. Gaines, a conservative businessman and Assemblyman, will be running on the November ballot for the Republican nomination in the special election to replace the late Senator Dave Cox. The endorsement from Gun Owners of California is a sign that conservatives are rallying around the Gaines candidacy.

"Throughout his career, Ted Gaines has been a staunch leader in the defense of the 2nd Amendment," said Sam Parades, Executive Director of the Gun Owners of California. "He has proven to be tough on crime and the law abiding citizen's best friend. I have no question that Ted Gaines is the absolute best choice to represent the 1st Senate District here in California."

The Governor called a Special Election for January 4, 2011 to fill the remainder of Senator Cox's term. The primary to determine which candidates appear on the January 4 ballot will be held November 2. The top vote-getters from each major party will move on to the January ballot.

"I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution and the right of Americans to own firearms," Gaines stated. "Our nation's heritage and history prove the importance of protecting our gun ownership rights."
