GRANITE BAY, CA -- Armed with signatures from 2,000 local residents, Conservative Ted Gaines today became an official candidate for the First State Senate District.

"I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the people of the First District," said Gaines. "It is clear to me that voters in our area want to be represented by a conservative who believes in limited government, less spending and lower taxes."

Gaines filed his election paperwork in all 12 counties inside the Senate District today. The Special Election in the First District was called after the death of Senator Dave Cox.

Gaines, the conservative in the race, enjoys support from Rep. Tom McClintock, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and Gun Owners of California among others.

Ted Gaines is a small business owner who currently represents the 4th Assembly District. His family first settled in the area shortly after the Gold Rush. Ted and his wife, Beth, have six children, four of whom are currently in college. Additional information about Ted Gaines and his Senate campaign can be found at www.TedGaines.com.
